Secret #5: I am very impractical

I'm one of those girls who owns power tools. The cordless Makita drill is not Mr. Red Shoes'--it's mine. I carry an LED-powered MagLite and a Victorinox multitool in my purse. I can fix machines and build things from wood and do all manner of electrical chores. All of that is very practical. However, sometimes I'm not very practical about the way I do these things...

...sartorially speaking.

In my defense, I never go to work in a skirt for a day's load-in or rehearsal.  But it does happen from time to time that just before or during an event, I find I need to scramble up a ladder or onto a balcony railing, and if I'm wearing nice clothes, well, too bad.  The show must go on, etc.

I've even rigged scaffolding while wearing a dress and tango shoes.  Great party, I tell ya.

Scary for acrophobes such as your Mom to consider.

Thanks, Julochka! A friend snapped that last year at the Great American Music Hall.

Mom: I'm a professional ladder-climber, remember? Can't help it.
